A Wiltshire teenager has outshone her rivals in an American modeling and talent competition to be named Junior Model of the Year.
Evelyn Morris from Trowbridge won the title at the Modeling Association of America Internationals 2024 from July 10 to 13 in New York.
The 13-year-old pupil at the Clarendon Academy School said: “I feel very proud of myself. Winning Junior Model of the Year is a dream come true.
"The competition was fierce, and I am incredibly grateful for the support and encouragement from my family, friends, and mentors.
“This achievement is the result of hard work, passion, and dedication."
Evelyn's performance secured her the rising star award for commercial, a third place in dance, first place in swimwear, and first place in high fashion runway, culminating in her being awarded the Junior Model of the Year title.
She also won the people’s choice award for a cash prize following the four-day competition at The Mansion at Glen Cove in Long Island, New York.
Evelyn’s mum, Sarah Morris, is chair of the Trowbridge and District Youth Band, and has a younger daughter Lillian, 11.
Sarah said she and her husband, Simon, were “very proud” of Evelyn’s acting and modelling achievements so far.
“She has just been amazing. When she hits 16 we are hoping it is going to really take off. We are trying to do what is best for her.”
At 5ft 5.5 inches, Evelyn is fairly tall for her age but Sarah believes that ballet training has helped to give her daughter poise. “She holds herself well,” she said.
Evelyn is a member of the local Stagecoach acting school and sings and dances, as well as swimming competitively with the Bradford on Avon Swimming Club.
She also takes private acting lessons with a coach from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art on Saturday mornings.
She was invited to take part in the Long Island competition after previously attending Casting Call auditions for iPOP! in Los Angeles aged 11.
The Modeling Association of America Internationals is renowned for discovering and nurturing new talent in the modeling and entertainment industry.
Each year, the event attracts aspiring models and performers from around the globe, providing them with a platform to showcase their talents and gain recognition.
Marta Michaud, Evelyn's mentor, said: "Evelyn's success at this year's competition is a testament to her talent, hard work, and determination.
"We are extremely proud of her achievements and look forward to seeing her continue to excel in her modeling career."
