Fresh plans have been submitted to build 230 homes, alongside a pub and a takeaway, on the edge of a Wiltshire town.

Last May, Wiltshire Council approved an outline proposal to build up to 230 dwellings, a drinking establishment, and a hot food takeaway, on land to the east of Barrow Farm in Langley Burrell.

The major scheme would see the redevelopment of a flat field and farm bordering Kilverts Way on the northern edge of Chippenham.

Developer Barratt and David Wilson Homes has now submitted a reserved matters application for the residential portion of the project.

This proposal is seeking council approval on the details of several issues, including access to the site, and the layout, scale, appearance, and landscaping of the new planned housing estate.

The other aspects of the development, including a “local centre”, will be brought forward under a separate reserved matters application.

Barratt and David Wilson Homes has revealed designs that split the housing development into several different areas with different “characters”, including Maud Avenue, Village Core, and Rural Fringe.

There would also be several green spaces created for new residents, including a village green, a large public park, and wetland areas.

The site would be accessed via the B4069.
