Poundland has confirmed the date when it will close its flagship store in a Wiltshire shopping centre.

The budget retail chain has confirmed it will be shutting the doors of its branch at The Shires Shopping Centre in Trowbridge.

Earlier this month shopping centre manager Sarah Moore announced the news, but Poundland did not respond to a request for comment.

Now signs have been put up on the shopfront warning customers that the store will close for the final time on Saturday, July 20.

They read: “Sorry. We’re closing July 20. Visit our website for other nearby stores.”

Once the chain departs from The Shires, its Wiltshire locations will include Warminster, Devizes, Chippenham, Swindon, and Salisbury.

Mrs Moore has previously said the shopping centre took part in extensive negotiations with Poundland in an attempt to renew its lease but could not reach an agreement.

She added: “We are saddened to confirm that Poundland has decided not to renew their lease at the centre.

“Despite extensive negotiations, an agreement could not be reached.

“Looking forward, we are excited to welcome new businesses to The Shires in the coming months, enhancing the shopping experience for our community.”
