The identity of a woman charged with murder has been confirmed after reports of a 'fatal' stabbing in Wiltshire.

Police officers rushed to an address in Easterton, near Devizes, just after 8pm on Tuesday, July 2 following reports that a man had been stabbed.

Officers say the male died at the scene and is believed to be 48-year-old Raymond Groves from Hartcliffe in Bristol, although formal identification is yet to take place.

Helen Shakespeare of Strawberry Fields has now been formally charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder following the death.

53-year-old Shakespeare has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Swindon Magistrates Court today (Saturday, July 6).

A man in his 30s has also been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident, and a woman in her 20s was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and conspiracy to commit murder.

“I’d like to send my condolences to the family and friends of the man involved.

"Our investigation remains ongoing," said Detective Inspector Deb Hatch.

This incident near Devizes comes just one week after a stabbing in Devizes town centre, which is not believed to be connected.
