Ground has been broken on a major phase of work to build a “luxury” £18.1 million retirement village in Wiltshire.

The project at Wadswick Green, on the outskirts of Corsham, is one of several schemes from Rangeford Villages and is due to see 10 apartment blocks completed by November next year.

Eight of these are already finished and mostly occupied.

Contractor Beard has begun work on the next phase of the development, which will see the final two blocks built.

These blocks, which will be known as Walnut Lane, will house 45 individual apartments.

The retirement community also features The Pavilion, a social hub including a spa, shop, restaurant, and village hall.

CEO of Rangeford Villages Howard Nankivell said: “We are very excited to be very near completing the latest in our collection of luxury retirement villages.

“Our villages are exciting, innovative and contemporary and we offer the best quality of accessible accommodation including very high energy efficiency standards.”

Jamie Harwood, Beard’s Swindon director, says air source heat pumps will be used to achieve maximum energy efficiency.

He added: “We are thrilled to be involved in this project and look forward to delivering great accommodation as part of this innovative retirement village.

“It’s a great opportunity to showcase our expertise and experience in building high-quality accommodation for older people.”
