A man has been disqualified from driving after assaulting a police officer and failing to cooperate following a crash in Malmesbury.
The B4042 in Malmesbury was closed to the public for two hours on Thursday, June 27, following a two-vehicle crash that took place just before The Priory roundabout.
An eyewitness at the scene told the Gazette and Herald that the cars looked "proper smashed up at the front", and one driver and two passengers were taken to hospital for treatment for injuries which are not thought to be serious.
Wiltshire Police since confirmed that a man from Stroud, who was the driver of the other car, has now been disqualified from driving as a result of the crash.
Steven Adams, of Sunnhill, Cashes Green in Stroud, was charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis and two counts of assaulting an emergency worker after being arrested following the crash.
The 40-year-old appeared at Swindon Magistrates' Court the following morning and pleaded guilty to all charges.
"He was disqualified from driving for 24 months, to be reduced by 24 weeks if he completes a driving course," said a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police.
"He was also given a community resolution with 31 days of rehabilitation activities, and required to pay compensation of £100, a victim surcharge of £114, fine of £140 and court costs of £8."
