A man has been arrested after police allegedly found a knuckleduster during a vehicle stop on a Wiltshire A-road.

Officers from the Corsham neighbourhood team stopped a red Ford Focus on the A4 Box Hill, heading into Corsham, under section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, on Thursday, June 13.

Both the driver and the vehicle were searched during the stop and police say a knuckleduster was located in the driver’s door pocket.

The driver, a man in his 30s from Bristol, was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place contrary to section one of the Prevention of Crime Act.

He has since been bailed with conditions preventing him from entering Wiltshire, pending charging advice from the Crown Prosecution Service.

Officers had been targeting vehicles coming in and out of the area, in an attempt to crack down on those distributing drugs in Corsham and the surrounding towns.
