A trustee of a Trowbridge charity that helps those in need said they have been overwhelmed with offers to help find it a new home.

The Ruksak 45218 charity has managed to find a new premises and hopes to sign a lease agreement on Monday, June 10.

Ruksak is a not-for-profit organisation which provides essential items for people in need in Wiltshire.

Trustees and volunteers were shocked to hear they had just two weeks to find a new warehouse and offices because their current premises are closing.

The charity has been given until Friday, June 14 to vacate its offices and warehouse space at Bratton Place Business Centre on the White Horse Business Park.

Ruksak 45218 trustee Richard Culverhouse immediately appealed for help to find a 4,000 square feet warehouse and offices in Trowbridge to store their donated items.

He said: “I had a meeting of trustees and volunteers yesterday evening where I explained where we are moving to and what it is involved.

“Unfortunately, I cannot tell you exactly where it is because the paperwork is not due to be signed until next Monday.

“The response to the Wiltshire Times online article and social media has been tremendous with public pledging support in helping the charity to move premises next week.

“Extra help will always be welcome and contact can be made through me on culver1947@aol.com.

“Provided everything goes to plan on Monday then it will be a big announcement for the town.”

News that Bratton Place Business Centre was being decommissioned came as a “complete shock” to the charity’s trustees and volunteers.

Mr Culverhouse said: “We were totally sideswiped. The news totally came out of the blue and will cause enormous worry to the professionals who depend on them to help those residents who need it the most.”

Sarah Ramsey, of Mayfield Asset and Property Management Ltd in London, wrote to Ruksak 45218 for and on behalf of their client Trowbridge Park Ltd.

She said: “I regret to inform you that our client, Trowbridge Park LTD, will shortly enter into administration and as a result of this unforeseen circumstance, I must formally serve you notice to terminate your licence agreement to occupy Bratton Place.

“As per the centre’s terms and conditions, the licensor/owner can terminate your licence on a minimum 2 weeks’ notice, and as such please accept this email that your agreement will end on Friday 14 June 2024.

Unfortunately, our client sadly can no longer maintain the costs of services within the building and will therefore shut down the premises upon your vacation.”
