One of Cirencester’s biggest events of the year returns next months with thrilling stunts, dozens of stalls and quirky attractions.

The Cotswold Show and Food Festival is back for another year at Cirencester Park on Saturday, July 6 and Sunday, July 7.

A spokesperson said: " The Cotswold Show and Food Festival is not one to be missed.

"It’s the annual event that is a highlight of any family’s calendar.

"With new acts every year and old favourites, it’s the perfect weekend out for any age."

The Bathurst Arena will be full of thrilling attractions including Big Pete’s Monster Trucks, The Dog and Duck Show (one of the most popular displays in the country), Hawkeye Falconry, the exhilarating Pony Scurry and a Police Horse Demonstration.

Over in the Apsley Arena there will be family favourites such as the Gun Dog Scurry, Dog Agility, Otterhounds, Clumber Spaniels and more.

For the dog lovers the Fun Dog Show is back where you can enter your own pooch in 20 classes including most handsomest dog and the dog most like its owner.

To entertain the children there are numerous activities such as Tree Climbing, ‘Give It A Go’ Clay Pigeon Shooting, Archery, Go Kart Racing and The Old Tyme Funfair.

And for the shopping lovers there are over 250 stalls and a huge food hall filled with local produce.

Animal enthusiasts will not be disappointed as the unique event of Ferret Racing returns alongside The Sheep Show which is a hilarious but educational event with dancing sheep!

The Pony Scurry is a thrilling event which will be happening twice a day and Grant Bazin will be giving a spectacular demonstration of practical horsemanship.

Often deemed the stars of the show are Big Pete's monster trucks, which are the headline act in the Bathurst Arena.

Big Pete a custom built 16ft tall and 13ft wide truck, will jump 15ft in the air, crush anything in its path and together with Grim Reaper rip apart vehicles.

Bright red and weighing 7.5 tons, Big Pete always puts on a spectacular event. Big Pete is also the only Monster Truck in the world to have its own destructive Monster Trailer. Big Pete was built in 2001 and completed to how it looks today in 2003. Its heavy-duty leaf spring suspension makes it one of the hardest things to drive. Grim Reaper is a lighter more modern looking truck with sparkles in its bodywork.
