An exciting fly-past is planned for the run-up to D-Day.
A D-Day flypast has been arranged part of a project to recognise the important role played by RAF Old Sarum.
On Tuesday, June 4, three Austers will take part in an RAF Old Sarum flypast, between 10am - 10.30am.
The project is a joint effort by Boscombe Down Aviation Collection and Laverstock & Ford Parish Council.
Tim Cornish, one of the team at the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection, organised the flypast. He has collated most of the research surrounding the airfields (RAF Old Sarum) involvement in D-Day.
The flypast will showcase the following:
Tim Cornish : Auster 5 NJ633 (G- AKXP) - Stripes (ex 659 AOP Squadron)
Mike Laundy: Auster 1 LB352 (G-AHCR) - ex 654 AOP Squadron
Tim Taylor: Auster 5 TW519 (G-ANHX) ex 661 AOP Squadron and later Aircraft & Armament Experimental Establishment at RAF Boscombe Down.
