When August ends, you might think that festival season and perhaps the summer are drawing to a close too.
But at least five national papers would disagree, giving End of the Road, spanning into the start of September, five stars.
The acclaimed festival at Larmer Tree Gardens is happening on the Wiltshire/Dorset border.
The “easy-going” festival has five music stages and will feature over 100 live music performances.
Headliners include IDLES, Slowdive, Fever Ray, Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Yo La Tengo, Sleater-Kinney, Lankum, Richard Hawley, Baxter Dury, Jockstrap.
There will also be comedy from the likes of Stuart Lee and Fern Brady.
However, many agree that the unexpected at the festival that makes it stand out, with the Guardian stating: “The star attraction is ultimately the constant potential to be surprised.”
For those who like to know what to expect, the stage timings have been released.
Woods Stage
On Thursday, Laetitia Sadier Source Ensemble will open the festival. Bonnie “Prince” Billy will end the day with his haunting and melodic brand of Americana and folk.
On Friday, Bristol boys IDLES plan a “raging” headline set, but not before Riot Grrrl legends Sleater Kinney set the mood.
Saturday on The Woods will see shoegaze icons Slowdive as well as the shapeshifting electronica of Jockstrap, both best heard through the festival's biggest speakers.
Sunday on will be brought to a close by the high theatrics of Fever Ray.
Garden Stage
On Friday the stage will play host to the likes of Niger’s cult DIY “hero” Mdou Moctar, harpist Mary Lattimore and with Mercury Prize nominees Lankum headlining.
Richard Hawley headlines on Saturday, while the stage comes to a close on Sunday with US indie auteurs Yo La Tengo.
Folly Stage
The Folly Stage offers the chance to catch upcoming artists, with Nashville rockers Snõõper, Lambrini Girls and Heartworms It will also host late night secret sets.
Big Top
Promising “headliners of the future” such as Hot Wax, Militarie Gun and Water From Your Eyes.
Talking Heads
Home in the woods for more subtle sounds such as experimental musician Clarissa Connelly and singer-songwriter Sam Amidon.
Boat Stage
The most experiment stage, this year sees the likes of Still House Plants, Nourished By Time, MC Yallah & Debmaster and The Tara Clerkin Trio play.
