Flood alerts are in place in Wiltshire after a yellow weather warning was issued.
The flood alerts are in place near Trowbridge and north of Chippenham in the mid and upper-Bristol Avon areas.
This comes after the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning covering the whole of Wiltshire warning of thunderstorms. The warning expired at 8am today.
The flood alert for the Trowbridge area is expected to affect the Mid River Avon and tributaries including Melksham and Bradford on Avon.
It says that river levels are forecast to rise on the Bristol Avon and Semington Brook due to the evening’s rainfall.
Flooding is forecast to affect low-lying land and roads between Melksham and Bathford.
The floodgates at Holt Road may be closed. Further rainfall, sometimes heavy, is forecast and rivers are expected to peak on Thursday, April 2.
The flood alert north of Chippenham affects the Upper River Avon and tributaries including Malmesbury and Chippenham.
It says that river levels are forecast to rise on the Bristol Avon, Tetbury Avon, Sherston Avon and Dauntsey Brook due to the evening’s rainfall.
Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the Bristol Avon, Tetbury Avon, Sherston Avon, Dauntsey Brook, with low lying land expected to be most affected, particularly around the road at Reybridge.
Again, rivers are expected to peak on April 2 with rain forecast.
