A drug driver who took to the motorway in Wiltshire after 'smoking cannabis' has been caught by police.

The driver missed a turning off the motorway and then the car's battery died.

Highways England called police after the driver tested positive for cannabis and they were arrested.

The Wiltshire Specialist Operations team took to X to share the news on Sunday, April 28.

The post reads: “Never a good idea to miss your turning off the motorway, especially when you need to charge the car & the battery dies. 

“An even worse idea to have this happen after you have smoked cannabis which Highways England call in to police.”

 

Another driver in Trowbridge was pulled over for driving whilst disqualified but a further search of the vehicle found suspected Class A drugs and cash.

On the same day, the Wiltshire Police team shared on X that police are investigating the incident.

Pictures show a wad of £20 notes and small bags containing white powders.

The vehicle was seized, and the driver is in custody.
