Every Sunday, Chapmanslade holds a game of bingo at the village hall which is open to anyone over 18 willing to participate.
It is a brilliant show of community spirit and all the volunteers working there are lovely people who are very welcoming to newcomers.
There is a plethora of prizes to be won such as a kids duvet set, a fitted sheet, a hairdryer, fairy gel, and a DAB FM radio.
Furthermore, there were numerous games where you have the opportunity to win a cash prize. This ranged from £5 to £150. When it was announced that the prize money would be £150, a wave of immediacy swept over the hall as everyone held their breath hoping they would be the lucky person to win.
I asked a participant about their experience going to bingo and they said 'Yes, I did enjoy it. This was something I have not really done before so it was fun to step out of my comfort zone!'
I then asked about the £150 cash prize:
'Yes, I remember it, it was very exciting to see everyone, us included, get more and more nervous as it got closer to being announced! It was funny and relieving to see everyone physically relax after someone called bingo!'
Upon being asked if they will go again, they said 'Sure it was a fun treat and a bit of light relief, even if at the time it was quite tense hoping to win the prizes!'
