FOLK music legends from the 1970s are to top the bill at the 50th anniversary Trowbridge Festival at the end of July.
The line-up for the three-day festival from Friday, July 26 to Sunday, July 28 includes former Steeleye Span singer Maddy Prior, who gained fame with the group’s 1976 hit ‘All Around My Hat’.
Nick Reed, director of the Trowbridge Festival, said: “Marking the 50th Anniversary of the very first Trowbridge Village Pump Festival requires a very special line-up.
“In 1974, Maddy and Tim Hart graced the Village Pump folk club’s stage, the very origin of this beloved festival.
“Though Tim Hart has left us, Jon Boden, a long-time admirer of his singing, enthusiastically steps in to join Maddy. Together, they’ll delve into the cherished early recordings found in Folk Songs of Olde England Vol 1 & 2 and Summer Solstice.
“This promises to be an exhilarating and unique experience for both artists, marking a significant milestone in their illustrious careers.”
The Trowbridge Festival 2024 is being staged at Greenhill Fields, between the villages of Southwick and North Bradley.
