Angry parents are calling for greater safety measures outside a Trowbridge primary school.
This comes after a child was hit by a vehicle last month.
The child was knocked down on Friday, March 8 while crossing the road outside the newly-named Willowbrook Primary School, formerly known as the Oasis Academy Longmeadow.
Now parents have launched a petition calling on Wiltshire Council to install a pedestrian crossing on Broadcloth Lane, one of the main routes to the Longmeadow Estate school.
The petition says: “We, the concerned members of our community, urgently request the installation of a pedestrian crossing on Broadcloth Lane, a crucial pathway leading to Oasis Academy Longmeadow in Trowbridge.
“The safety of our children is paramount, and we believe that taking proactive measures, such as installing a crossing, is essential to ensuring their well-being.
“With the recent surge in traffic due to the new development, the risk to our young ones has significantly escalated.
“We firmly advocate for prioritising the safety of our children by securing the necessary funds for the installation of a pedestrian crossing on Broadcloth Lane.
“This measure will not only enhance the safety of our community members but also contribute to the overall well-being of our neighbourhood.
“Let us join hands to create a safer environment for our children to thrive and grow. Your support in signing this petition is crucial in making our voices heard and bringing about positive change.”
Conservative town and Wiltshire councillor Daniel Cave is urging people to sign the petition to support the call for a crossing on the lane, which already has a 20mph speed limit.
He said: “There is a school there but no crossing on the road and people drive down there quite quickly.
“The car accident took place on Friday, 8th March outside of the school. A child was hit and had to spend a night in the hospital.

“The petition was set up before the accident took place, considering there is potential for it to occur,” he added.
“Sadly, an accident has occurred and it highlights the desperate need for a crossing. I am in talks with officers, and I am hopeful the funding is possible.
“We are appealing to people to show their support so that we can request Wiltshire Council to install a crossing.”
Willowbrook Primary School head teacher John Bullen has been contacted.
