WILTSHIRE Police has referred itself to the Independent Office of Police Conduct following the death of a missing man in the Biss Woods area.
Police were seen in the Biss Woods area on Tuesday between the Larkrise Community Farm on the West Ashton Road and Bel’s Café on the A350.
A spokesperson said that the referral to the IOPC was because police officers were actively searching for the man at the time.
Police said: “We can confirm a body has been found in relation to a missing man in the Trowbridge area.
“The body was found Tuesday morning in the Biss Woods area.
“Although formal identification has not yet been completed, we have updated the family of the man and a file will be prepared on behalf of HM Coroner for Wiltshire.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious at this stage and we have referred the case to the Independent Office of Police Conduct because we were actively searching for the individual at the time.”
