Thirteen flood warnings and 28 flood alerts have been issued for Wiltshire with flooding forecast across the county after recent rainfall.
The flood warnings include one for the Upper Bristol Avon area from Chippenham to Melksham,
The Upper Bristol Avon includes tributaries from downstream of Chippenham to Melksham, covering Reybridge, Lacock and Bewley Court.
Wiltshire Council has already installed the floodgate on the B3105 Holt to Staverton cut-through.
It has also put out ‘road closed’ signs on the B3105 Staverton causeway which some drivers are likely to ignore.
The Environment Agency said: “River levels are remaining high on the Bristol Avon and is reacting to recent rainfall.
“Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the Bristol Avon, with low-lying land expected to be most affected, particularly around properties at Reybridge.
“We will continue to monitor levels closely.
“Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water.
“Plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.”
Other flood warnings include the Wylye Valley, the Chitterne Valley, and the South Wiltshire Downs, the Middle Avon from Salisbury to Ringwood, the River Bourne at Tidworth and Shipton Bellinger village centre.
The 28 alerts where flooding is possible include:
- Groundwater flooding in Kings Somborne and Little Somborne
- Groundwater flooding in Pitton, West Tytherley, Nether Wallop and Broughton
- Groundwater flooding in the Cranborne Chase area
- Groundwater flooding in the Lambourn Valley catchment
- Groundwater flooding in the Salisbury Plain area
- Groundwater flooding in the Upper Aldbourne Valley
- Groundwater flooding in the Upper Og Valley
- Groundwater flooding in Vernham Dean, Upton and the Bourne Valley
- Groundwater flooding in villages surrounding Andover
- Lower Bristol Avon area
- Mid Bristol Avon area
- Middle Avon and tributaries
- Middle Stour and tributaries
- River Bourne and tributaries
- River Churn and its tributaries
- River Coln and its tributaries
- River Kennet and its tributaries from Berwick Bassett down to Newbury
- River Lambourn and its tributaries from Upper Lambourn down to Newbury
- River Leach from Northleach to Mill Lane near Lechlade
- River Ock from Watchfield to Abingdon, and also the Letcombe Brook at Wantage, Grove and East Hanney
- River Thames and its small tributaries from Calcutt to Lechlade
- River Thames and tributaries from Buscot Wick down to Kings Lock
- River Wylye and tributaries
- Somerset Frome area
- Tributaries on the Upper River Thames above Cricklade
- Upper Avon and tributaries
- Upper Bristol Avon area
