A documentary film on the animals at Wiltshire’s Longleat Safari Park has won a top television award.
The BBC’s Animal Park documentary series, which is filmed on the Longleat Estate, won ‘Best Daytime TV Show’ at the TV Choice Awards 2024 this week.
The show, first filmed at Longleat in 2000, features the animals and keepers at the Safari Park as well as members of the Thynn family who own the estate.
Presented by Kate Humble and Ben Fogle, the documentary explores Longleat Safari Park, meeting a host of exotic, fascinating animals and the people who look after them. It has made household names of many of the animals there over the past few years.
Ceawlin Thynn, 8th Marquis of Bath, said: “It’s our privilege to share the lives of the animals in our care with the viewers of Animal Park, and everyone in the Longleat team is celebrating this award alongside the presenters, crew and production team.
“Thank you to everyone who welcomes Ben, Kate, Hamza, Megan, the Longleat keepers and, of course, all the animals into your homes, to make Animal Park such a success.”
Longleat first welcomed camera crews to the safari park in 1967 when ‘The Lions of Longleat’ aired on BBC One to celebrate the then newly-opened safari park.
