Renovation plans for a “dilapidated” pub in a picturesque National Trust village are amongst the latest planning applications approved by Wiltshire Council.
The Carpenters Arms, located in the small but renowned village of Lacock, is set to undergo a refurbishment “to ensure the longevity of the public house and enrich its provision for the local area.”
The building is Grade II listed and the works should “uplift” its architectural quality.
The application states: “Through studying buildings in the village, we have gained a comprehensive understanding of the forms and fabric which defines Lacock.
“Using this information along with our knowledge of the site we have devised a scheme which takes strong influence from its sense of place.”
Lacock is famous for its quaint charm and made brief appearances in two Harry Potter films as well as a Fantastic Beasts spin-off.
In other planning news, Wiltshire Council received a planning application for the installation of three electric vehicle charging stations in the car park of The Milk Churn pub in Melksham.
The council will also consider a proposal for a new multi-use games area on the playing fields at The Corsham School, as well as a new adventure golf course at the Center Parcs Longleat Forest Holiday Village near Warminster.
