The leader of Wiltshire Council has said that recent flooding is the worst he has ever seen in Wiltshire.
This comes after heavy rainfall caused major disruption across the county.
Bradford on Avon’s flooding was described as the worst seen since the 1980s and 40 houses in Marlborough were evacuated after water levels rose so high it became too dangerous for people to stay in their homes.
Several roads remain closed and many flood warnings are still in place.
Councillor Richard Clewer told the BBC that it was the worst surface water problem on the roads that he had seen in the 20 years he has lived in Wiltshire.
He said: "The state of the roads, the rivers running down country roads was worse than anything I've ever seen.”
He also told the BBC that the council took approximately 100 calls about property flooding overnight and that the authority has had confirmed reports of around 30 properties and businesses flooded.
Residents who have experienced flooding in their homes can get in touch with Wiltshire Council for support.
This does not apply to people who have floods in their gardens or external garages.
