40 houses in Marlborough were evacuated after water levels rose so high it became too dangerous for people to stay in their homes.
Trowbridge Fire Station provided an update on the large-scale emergency response that was needed in the Wiltshire town after Storm Henk's heavy rains caused significant flooding.
A spokesperson said: "[On Friday] we assisted in dealing with a large flooding evacuation incident based in Marlborough."
"Group1 and On-call firefighters turned out in 41R2 and 41P4 to assist Marlborough Fire Station, Stratton St Margaret Fire Station, Pewsey Fire Station, Wiltshire Police, South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust and Wiltshire Search and Rescue with a large flooding evacuation in the town with over 40+ houses were evacuated and taken to the town hall.
"A great team effort throughout the day!"
The water levels reached their peak on Friday, and by Saturday had started to subside. As a result, Marlborough Town Council shared an update on the recovery operation.
A spokesperson for the local authority said: "Now that flood waters are subsiding we are liaising with Wiltshire Council's emergency planning team to co-ordinate recovery actions to deal with the clean-up.
"On Sunday, January 7, a street sweeping vehicle will attend to clean the flood-affected part of A4 London Road, The Parade and Kennet Place."
