A Grade II listed building in Royal Wootton Bassett could become a nursery under new plans.
Lime Kiln House is located on the High Street and dates back to the early 18th century.
It is currently being used as an office building but these new plans would see it converted into a nursery.
According to a new application made to Wiltshire Council, most alterations would be made in the northern wing where there is no historical interest, allowing “the listed building to remain in keeping as much as possible.”
It states: “Minimal alterations are proposed in the southern part of the building, an area of historical interest - a number of doors are proposed to be demolished in existing openings to improve levels of observation across the spaces for safety and monitoring of children.”
The heritage statement concluded: “The proposed use of the building as a nursery for children represents a beneficial use that will require relatively minor alterations at ground floor level.
“The reinstatement of the original entrance hall compartment is considered to be a positive change that is a public benefit, and which at least balances the other minor alterations proposed.”
Wiltshire Council has until Wednesday, January 31, to make its decision.
Details for all Wiltshire planning applications can be found on Wiltshire Council's planning and building control public register.
