A yellow weather warning has been issued for parts of Wiltshire with a “band of heavy rain” set to move across the county.

The Met Office has put the warning in place for large parts of the south of the county. It is in force between 11am and 10pm on Thursday, December 7.

During this time heavy rain will spread eastwards from Somerset, hitting towns such as Warminster and Salisbury, potentially causing disruption in these towns.

Residents of the affected areas have been warned to expect flooding of a “few homes and businesses.”

The Met Office also warned that rainfall will “probably” cause spray and flooding on roads, leading to disruption to traffic and extended journey times.

Bus and train services are also likely to be impacted by any flooding, while key routes through the county including the A36, A350 and A303 are covered by the warning.

While no warnings have been issued for the north of the county at the time of writing, heavy rain is forecast to hit these areas as well.

Heavy showers are forecast between 2pm and 7pm in Swindon, with lighter rainfall expected to continue throughout much of the morning.
