Rumours have been circulating on social media that Iceland in Trowbridge could close after the British supermarket chain shut several branches nationwide.
Iceland is one of several major names cutting back stores as shoppers flock online.
"Is it right that B&M, Iceland and Wilko are closing down?" asked one Trowbridge local earlier this year, as speculation grew.
New Look, Wilko and Planet Games are just some of the shops that have closed in the town this year.
Iceland currently has around 500 stores in the UK, 12 of which are in Wiltshire.
But Iceland executive chairman Richard Walker told ThisIsMoney: "We have always made a small number of store closures every year, as local shopping patterns change and shop leases expire."
And worker at Trowbridge’s Iceland store says the shop is not in the running, as far as staff are aware.
“I haven’t heard anything about it from the team," said the anonymous staff member. "We’ve been told nothing to suggest that we could be going anywhere."
Iceland’s HQ has been contacted for official confirmation that the store is staying open, but is yet to respond.
