A sous chef from Wiltshire has wowed judges on Masterchef: The Professionals.
Ieuan Davies first appeared on episode four of the popular BBC cooking show, which is in its 16th series.
Having impressed renowned judges Marcus Wareing, Gregg Wallace and Monica Galetti, Ieuan was delighted to make it through to the quarter-finals and continue flying the flag for Wiltshire.
The 26-year-old was born and bred in Newport, Wales, but moved to Chippenham where he began work as a sous chef for The Castle Inn in Castle Combe.
“My parents both used to work really long hours, so I was cooking from a young age," said Ieuan.
“I taught myself by watching TV shows. I always loved cooking and studied it at school so this was my obvious career path."
The Wiltshire chef, who spends his free time swimming and watching rugby, has described his cooking style as ‘modern British’ and has admitted he’s not afraid to go bold with big flavours.
Speaking about his route into the Masterchef kitchen, Ieuan added: “I wanted to take part in Masterchef because I quite often use competitions as a way of seeing where I am.
“I’ve been a big fan of MasterChef: The Professionals for years and this is the ultimate competition for me.”
Staff at The Castle Inn where Ieuan works could not be more thrilled to see their coworker making his TV debut.
“We are extremely proud of him for taking part in MasterChef: The Professionals," said Gaius Wyncoll, general manager of The Castle Inn.
"As noted by him in the show, he is always keen to develop and test his culinary skills and competing in MasterChef is another fantastic achievement.
"He was the first chef ever to be awarded Craft Guild of Chefs Kitchen and Pastry Graduate Awards in 2019 and he proves that he is worthy of success time and time again in our kitchen at The Castle Inn.
"Whilst he has now left the MasterChef competition, we have all certainly been left marvelling over his ingenious banana dessert from the food waste invention test, where he even used the banana skin," Ieuan's manager added.
You can watch Ieuan's TV appearance and catch up on MasterChef: The Professionals by streaming the series on BBC iPlayer.
