Wiltshire Council are seeking to procure a contract to re-construct the B4069 Lyneham Banks.
The key road between Chippenham and Lyneham suffered extreme damage following a significant landslip in February 2022.
It dislodged approximately 90m of the carriageway and the B4069 has been closed ever since.
The route used to see around 5500 vehicles a day and the official diversion route now sends them to the A3102 and the A4.
Council officers settled on a preliminary design for a repair scheme costing around £5.9 million in April 2023.
Wiltshire Council are now looking for tenders to carry out the work, which will involve reinstating the carriageway, pavement, drainage, and kerbs, whilst improving the existing drainage system.
It has also proposed stabilising the slope with a retaining wall of about 90m on the northern side of the road.
Additionally, an edge restraint is being considered, installed in the verge or attached directly to a planned capping beam at the back of the verge.
Wiltshire Council intends to hold a market engagement webinar on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at 11.00am via Microsoft Teams to inform the market of the current developing scheme proposals.
The council currently predicts that work will begin in Spring 2024 and will be completed by the end of 2024.
