A consultation is underway for a planning application submitted by McDonald’s Restaurants Limited to put up signage at the British Heart Foundation store in Warminster’s Castlemore Retail Park.
The company that owns the park, WES No1 Ltd, was initially granted approval on October 5 to change the use of the retail unit into a restaurant and takeaway.
The case officer report stated: “Owing to the current leaseholder’s (British Heart Foundation) tenancy reaching an end, the applicant wishes to market the property with a broader range of uses, to include the proposed sui generis restaurant and takeaway.”
The applicant’s covering letter requested flexibility to operate a restaurant with a higher level of takeaway but did not mention McDonald’s.
Following its approval, Wiltshire Council has received an application to erect McDonald’s signage at the unit.
The application proposes the installation of internally illuminated signage comprised of a white acrylic "McDonald's" letterset and a yellow acrylic "golden arch”.
Castlemore Retail Park is located less than two hundred yards from Warminster’s train station.
The consultation deadline for this planning application is Wednesday, November 22.
The British Heart Foundation lease expires in January 2024.
