Gin lovers are being offered an opportunity to taste before they buy at a new distillery that has opened in Trowbridge.
Tori Jordan and her elder sister Hannah Smith held a preview evening on Thursday for their new Still Sisters Distillery and gin shop in St George’s Works off Silver Street.
The sisters, who run Friary Vintners Ltd, have converted the former Finney’s hairdressing salon at 11 St George’s Works into a new gin shop complete with a working distillery.
They have installed a 2.5-litre copper still and have applied for a premises licence so that customers can taste the company’s gin products before they buy.
Tori said: “We are thrilled to announce the much-anticipated grand opening of our Trowbridge Distillery at Unit 11 St George's Works.
“Building on the resounding success of our Frome site, we have expanded our horizons and brought the unique spirit of Still Sisters to Trowbridge.
“At Still Sisters Trowbridge Distillery, we are dedicated to offering an unparalleled gin experience for all aficionados and newcomers alike.
“Our offerings include immersive gin schools and carefully curated tasting packages, gin teapots, afternoon tea, tapas and cheese and charcuterie boards, ensuring that something suits every palate and interest.
“Our doors are open to shop Monday through Saturday, from 10am to 5pm, providing the perfect opportunity for visitors to explore our remarkable range and indulge in their newfound passion for gin.
“For those seeking to enjoy a glass of gin in the bar and explore our extraordinary gin-tasting experiences, we have reserved Thursday through Saturday evenings from 4pm to 1 pm exclusively for our guests for gin schools, gin tastings, food, and much more. Booking through the website is recommended to avoid disappointment.
“As with our Frome distillery, our Trowbridge location embodies the same commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and a passion for distillation that has become synonymous with Still Sisters.
“We cannot wait to share the delights of our Trowbridge Distillery with you. Join us on this exciting journey, and together, we will raise a glass to the extraordinary world of gin.”
The shop is expected to employ two people full-time and four part-time.
Friary Vintners and Friary Drinks, of Ashton Park in Frome, make London Dry Gins under their Still Sisters brand.
They also produce a range of flavoured gin, rum and vodka liqueurs under their Friary Drinks brand.
These include bramble, clementine, elderflower, raspberry, rhubarb and ginger, sloe and watermelon gins.
