Wiltshire Council has been dealing with a variety of planning applications this week, including the demolition of a filling station car wash and additions to a Grade I listed house.

NEW BUILDINGS

The council received an application that could see the demolition of a car wash at Pippin Service Station, run by Esso at 17 Oxford Road in Calne.

The proposal states that the demolition would allow for a single-storey side shop extension for the ‘Food To Go area’ and improved parking.

Oare House, a Grade I listed house built in 1740 on Oare Estate near Marlborough, could see a glass house and horticultural building added to the grounds to provide a maintenance store, estate office and greenhouse with associated groundworks and landscaping.

Also in Oare, Hartfield Farm's owners are considering replacing two units with new buildings that would have an altered footprint.

At Flint Cottage in Netton, villagers could see the demolition of existing garages to erect a two-storey cottage.

There has been a further application to build a potential dwelling on land adjacent to 35 Tower View, Rowde, in Devizes.

The council also received proposals for buildings on 6A Frome Road in Southwick and The Dean on Ogbourne Road, in Aldbourne.

The owners of Ravenshurst Farm on The Common in Minety want to create two great crested newt ponds of up to 500sqm and up to 1.5m deep.

The application says that they would be created with shallow marginal areas to increase the habitat provision for newts and other aquatic species.

CHANGES OF USE AND CONVERSIONS

The council will consider a former agricultural barn off West Street in Great Somerford becoming a residential property.

The industrial site at J Price Bath Ltd on Quarry Hill in Box, Corsham, could be developed to create two new homes and self-contained holiday units, along with airsource heat pumps, in-roof photovoltaic panels and an external swimming pool.
In Salisbury, a vacant office at Prestex House, 7-8 Edison Road, could become a six-bed dwelling.

Nearby, 41 High Street could see part of its ground floor retail area become residential.

Meanwhile, a retrospective application has been submitted for dog walking at Turnpike Cottage, Chalcot Lane in Chapmanslade.

The council also received an application for the installation of a two-storey external lift at 30, Bremhill, Calne.

Additionally, it will consider the proposals for a new swimming pool at Peakes Farm, Sedgehill, and the erection of a carport at South Barn, Sodom Lane, Dauntsey.
