The Salvation Army in Trowbridge is once again calling on the local community to 'Be a Star' and donate brand new toys to its Christmas Present Appeal.
The appeal is again being backed by the Wiltshire Times and will support families in need over the festive season.
The charity is seeking donations of brand-new toys and gifts to give vulnerable children something to open on the big day.
The Salvation Army’s Trowbridge church leader and territorial envoy Michala Lancefield said: "Sadly, we know that this will be another really tough Christmas for local families.
“With the current cost-of-living crisis, thousands of people are expected to turn to The Salvation Army for help this winter.
“In over 650 communities across the UK, we will be doing all we can for them, whatever their circumstances.
“Trowbridge Salvation Army will be running a Christmas Present Appeal. Your donation will ensure no child is without toys and gifts this Christmas and no family is without food.
“Your gift will make a huge difference to those who might otherwise have nothing this Christmas.
“The people of Trowbridge and the surrounding areas are so generous each year and we couldn’t help those in need without your support."
Gifts can include anything from soft and educational toys for the very youngest child, to games, toys, books, toiletries and accessories for older children. All donations must be brand new and should be unwrapped.
Michala added: “This year’s appeal will run from November 13 to December 3. Between those dates you can take your donations to the following locations:
- Tesco Extra, County Way, Trowbridge, during normal shop hours
- The Shires Management Office, Trowbridge, Monday-Saturday 9am-pm, Sundays 10.30am-4pm
- Morrisons Warminster, during normal shop hours
- Morrisons Westbury, during normal shop hours
- Trowbridge Debt Advice Service, 55 Stallard Street, Tuesdays 9am-9pm and Wednesdays 9am-5pm ONLY”
“We will also be providing two opportunities for people to bring their kind donations directly to our church building in Castle Street, Trowbridge. The dates for this are Friday, December 1 from 4.30pm-6.30pm and Saturday, December 2 from 10am-2pm.
“Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity. It means a great deal to The Salvation Army and even more to those whom we are able to support.”
