A skyrocketing Wiltshire firm based in a huge 88,000sq metre warehouse off the M4 has continued its rapid expansion.

Chippenham based retailer Furniturebox, which was founded eight years ago by two 17-year-old school friends, has increased its revenue by 17 per cent after speeding up delivery times.

The continued success of co-founders Monty George and Dan Beckles comes after the business was named in the Sunday Times’ list of the UK’s 100 fastest growing companies.

Furniturebox operates out of an expansive warehouse and headquarters at the rapidly growing St Mowden Park, just off junction 17 of the M4, where the firm employs 53 people.

Mr George, 26, believes increasing the efficiency and speed of their service has been a key to their continued growth.

The furniture retailer is now offering “super fast next day deliveries” with a late cut-off time of 8pm.

It is one of the slowest-moving retail sectors to get with the 'eCommerce times'. We’re helping to change that - Furniturebox is the industry disrupter. We believe in an exceptional customer experience, and speed of delivery is part of that.

“We were aware of a bit of a gap in the market for free next-day delivery with a later cut-off time, so we wanted to meet that demand and better help our existing and new customers get that luxury experience without the hefty price tag.

“We really believe that having your dream home should be accessible for everyone and want to offer the ultimate service and delivery experience. Life’s too short to be sitting around waiting for furniture.”

The 8pm cut-off time was trialled for a month between May and June and has seen extra staff employed at the warehouse.

The policy has since been made permanent and will be available for customers as far away as Dundee.

Mr George believes Furniturebox now has the latest next day delivery time for bulky online items.

“We can’t be certain that we’re the only ones, but we’re definitely part of a small number at the innovative cutting edge of ecommerce, especially for the bigger bulkier items.”

The policy has proved popular with customers.

Netflix star Chloe Veitch, who appeared in the hit show Too Hot To Handle, said she was in her “happy place” after receiving a new dining table and chairs in under 24 hours.
