Boots is to close one of its two pharmacies in a Wiltshire town by the end of October as part of cutbacks across its whole retail estate.
Customers spotted a notice in the window of the heath and beauty chain's pharmacy in The Avenue announcing its closure on Saturday, October 28.
The notice said: “This store will close on 18.10.23. Your nearest store for collecting prescriptions will be: 39 Market Place, Warminster, BA12 9AZ.”
Customers are being advised to go to other nearby stores in High Street, Westbury, and in Bythesea Road in Trowbridge.
The chemist also axed its midnight pharmacy service in the Trowbridge store earlier this month.
Boots has pulled the plug on 300 stores across the UK which will close for good this year.
Shoppers were dismayed by the news, with one saying: "Bad times", while another said: "Oh, for heaven's sake".
The new closures are part of wider plans that will see Boots’ total chain of shops cut from 2,200 to 1,900.
When it unveiled its plans to shut stores in June, Boots did not reveal which stores were set to close.
Since then, it has announced plans to shut several stores in October and November.
