A new arts and crafts studio is to launch in Trowbridge on Saturday (September 30) offering therapeutic sessions in a fun and safe environment.
The Creative Minds Arts & Crafts is holding an open day in Kestrel House in Mill Street, for all ages and abilities.
Anyone wishing to attend will be supported by trained practitioners from child and adult services.
Painting and crafting workshops run by local artists are available, and free play after school and holiday clubs for children.
Adult workshops will include ‘Paint and Prosecco’ evenings, says the group’s spokesperson Steve Cartledge.
He said: “This vibrant new studio is the result of experienced childcare practitioners recognising the therapeutic benefits that art - in a safe and fun environment - can offer its participants.
“It is now widely recognised that therapeutic art practices may enhance emotional, physical, and cognitive development of those involved.
“The studio founders have previously worked with young children, adolescents and adults with a broad range of adverse experiences, challenging behaviours and additional physical and emotional requirements, such as Cerebral Palsy, Tourettes, Cornelia de Lange syndrome, ADHD, Asperger's and Autism, so are well placed to provide this provision.
“The studio will be available six days a week and will offer a range of exciting classes between 9am and 8pm, each of them targeted to a particular cohort to ensure stability and a like-minded social bonding experience.
“In addition to these therapeutic sessions, we will be offering after-school clubs and special artistic events for children during school holidays.
“We also have many experienced artists waiting to teach you new skills like face/body painting, glass and jewellery making, oil painting, calligraphy, felting and creative writing.
“As if that wasn't enough, we're also offering painting parties such as Paints & Prosecco, Beer & Brushes and Coffee, Cake & Canvas, which are terrific fun for a group of friends, families, birthday parties or team building events.”
The Creative Minds art sessions allow people to express themselves through the creative process, explore various art mediums and art forms and experiment with a huge variety of techniques and processes.
