Cooks in Bradford on Avon have a fresh challenge for the town's next produce show.
A shiny new trophy is up for grabs thanks to Bloomfields fruit and veg shop in The Shambles.
Bloomfields’ customers snap up Seville oranges for marmalade making, many of them with an eye on the hotly contested preserves classes at the show.
The town council already sponsors a Jam Cup, for the best jar of jam or jelly, but there has not been a trophy awarded for marmalade – until now.
Former town mayor John Potter, who revived the popular Flower & Produce Show in 2010 after a decades-long break, said: “We’re delighted that Bloomfields’ owner, Graham Forrester suggested sponsoring a trophy, and marmalade seemed particularly appropriate, given the queues outside the shop when the Seville oranges arrive.”
This year’s show will be held on Sunday, September 3 in St Margaret’s Hall, from 2-4pm.
Pick up a schedule, with entry form, at Bloomfield’s, the TIC or the town council offices in Kingston Road.
