ORGANISERS of the Bowerhill PTA Scarecrow Trail are cock-a-hoop after recording their best-ever fundraising event.

The four-day trail was held from Friday, April 28 to Monday, May 1, over the May Bank Holiday weekend.

The return of the trail for its third  consecutive year has raised almost £900 for the Bowerhill Primary School PTA to put towards items for the pupils.

Organisers Lisa Fudgell and Marie-Anne Amos run the PTA, along with over 20 further volunteers at Bowerhill Primary School.

Lisa said: “We were overwhelmed with the turn-out, which included not only pupils of Bowerhill School but also the wider Wiltshire community.

“This year’s theme was Julia Donaldson books and the village of Bowerhill came alive with over 300 families taking part.

“The likes of Superworm, Stick Man and The Gruffalo were just some of the 21 characters on display throughout the four days.

“This was the most successful trail to date for the PTA, bringing in almost £900 in fundraising.”

Those pupils who missed the trail were treated to a private scarecrow showing in school the following week.

Prizes were awarded for the top three favourite scarecrows and also to the three lucky winners who correctly guessed all 21 scarecrows.
