Residents in Wiltshire have just two days left to book their street parties to celebrate the King’s coronation weekend.

King Charles III and Camilla, the Queen Consort, will be crowned by the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby.

The coronation – the first since Her Majesty, the late Queen Elizabeth II was crowned on June 2 1953 – will take place a glittering ceremony at Westminster Abbey in London on Saturday, May 6.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said: “Their Majesties The King and The Queen Consort hope the coronation weekend will provide an opportunity to spend time and celebrate with friends, families and communities across the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.

“Their Majesties are looking forward to marking the occasion with the public throughout 2023.”

At Buckingham Palace, The King and The Queen Consort, accompanied by members of the Royal Family, will appear on the balcony to conclude the day’s ceremonial events.

But residents who wish to host a street party to celebrate this momentous occasion need to book them with their local authority by the deadline of Friday, March 31.

Many Wiltshire events will take place during the coronation weekend of May 5-8, including a Children's Crowns Parade taking place in Trowbridge town centre on Friday, May 5.

A spokesperson for Trowbridge Town Council said: “This is an open invite to local pre-schools, parents and toddler groups, childminders, schools and home study students to come and join us in your royal finery.

“The Parade sets off from Fore Street from 11am with the picnic in Trowbridge Park drawing to a close by 1pm.”

Across the coronation weekend, there will be further opportunities for people to come together in celebration of the historic occasion.

On Sunday, May 7, a special Coronation Concert will be staged and broadcast live at Windsor Castle by the BBC and BBC Studios, with several thousand pairs of tickets to be made available via public ballot.

The Coronation Big Lunch, at which neighbours and communities are invited to share food and fun together, will take place across the country on the same date.

On Monday, May 8, members of the public will be invited to take part in The Big Help Out, which will encourage people to try volunteering for themselves and join the work being undertaken to support their local areas.
