SOME of the big supermarkets have begun to make donations to the newly-launched Trowbridge Pets Foodbank.
Samantha Hadley, who set up the foodbank with help from her friend Mandy Duffurn, has already received donations from Asda, Sainsbury’s and Tesco.
Now she’s appealing to other big food stores and individuals to follow suit so that she can distribute the pet foods to cat and dog owners who are struggling financially.
“We set up the Trowbridge Pets Foodbank two and a half weeks ago because there was lots of demand. We are here to help people who are struggling financially with pet food.
“We have had a wonderful donation of puppy food from Trowbridge Sainsbury's today. Thank you so much, we really appreciate it.
“I’ve already given out 25-30 food parcels to pet owners, mainly cat and dog food and biscuits.
“We are also collecting also collars, leads, harnesses and dog coats that are being donated by the public.
Ms Hadley is operating the pet foodbank from her home in Pike Close.
She has set up two collection points at Mandy’s Kitchen in Staverton, and at Nature’s Sanctuary in Wicker Hill, Trowbridge.
To donate, drop off the pet foods at these points or contact Ms Hadley through Messenger on Facebook.
