The Cricket End at Chippenham Town’s Thornbury Surfacing Stadium has been revamped by local broadband providers Lit Fibre.

The stand has been renamed the Lit Fibre Community Stand and has undergone a rebrand.

It now boasts posters across the back of the stand, which Lit Fibre CEO Tom Williams hopes will bring some colour to the ground.

He said: “We’ve dressed it out and refurbished it a little bit… it’s about breathing new life into the stand.

“We are absolutely delighted to kick off the Chippenham Town FC partnership in style with a fantastic new stand and an ongoing commitment to the club which is at the heart of the community.

“We hope to support the local team and the incredible work the club does through its academy and local community initiatives”.

Town chairman Neil Blackmore added: “We are absolutely thrilled with the new stand which has done our club, and our dedicated fans, proud.

“Lit Fibre very much shares our ethos of ‘people first’ and has really embraced what it is like to be a partner of a local football club on the cusp of the bigger leagues.

“It is a wonderful addition to the Chippenham Town family.”

Lit Fibre has also committed to sponsoring the club’s academy kit for the 2022/23 season.

Mr Williams said: “It’s a great way to get through to grassroots football.

“It’s a real community based setup and that’s brilliant.

“We get our name out there and that’s great but actually it’s just great for the guys involved in the academy to have good equipment”.

Lit Fibre have been established in Chippenham since early 2021 and cover around two thirds of the town with their network.

They have also recently expanded into Melksham, Warminster and Westbury and Mr Williams, who is originally from Swindon says the company wants to offer a new, cheaper choice for consumers.

He added: “We don’t think consumers have a brilliant choice because a lot of companies don’t really treat customers very well.

“We look for areas where we can give consumers a real choice and a better service.

“People shouldn’t have to worry about spinning wheels or buffering, the internet should be there and working.”

The news comes ahead of Chippenham’s trip to League One Burton Albion in the second round of the FA Cup after beating Lincoln in the first round.

The clash will be the first time the Bluebirds have played at this stage of the competition.
