Wiltshire’s Household Recycling Centres (HRCs) will be switching to their annual winter opening hours from next month.

From November 1, the opening hours of all 10 of Wiltshire Council's HRCs will change to 10am to 4pm on each day that they're open. Currently they are open from 9am.

Salisbury, Trowbridge and Stanton St Quinton HRCs will also be closed for an additional day a week, so will not be operating on Thursdays and Fridays. The opening days of the other centres will remain as they are.

These temporary changes take account of reduced HRC usage over the winter months and will last until 31 March.

Wiltshire Council Cabinet Member for Waste Dr Mark McClelland said: “Our Household Recycling Centres will continue to be available to assist and encourage people to recycle as much as possible right through the coming months, albeit on slightly different opening hours.

“In providing the HRCs we support residents to ensure Wiltshire is a place where we all take responsibility for the environment.”

In 2021/22, the council diverted more than 176,000 tonnes of people's household waste from landfill, which is more than 81 per cent of the 217,389 tonnes of household waste that was managed overall.
