Westbury United A built up a healthy advantage in their semi-final against The Eleven Statues by winning the first leg of their E J Shanley and Son Limited-sponsored Division Two Cup semi-final 4-0 at Meadow Lane on Friday night.
Westbury played much the better football and by half-time had a 2-0 lead, thanks to goals from Mark Pearce and Matthew Friendship.
The second period was played out much the same as the first, with Westbury scoring two further goals, through Andy Goodenough and a second for Mark Pearce.
Mere Town 1, Lavington 3 LAVINGTON are only 90 minutes away from their third cup final of the season as they take a 3-1 lead back to Davis Field for the second leg.
Sean Jones got Mere off to a great start as he opened the scoring with only minutes on the clock, but Lavington weren't behind for long as Myles Hickton levelled.
The second half saw both teams playing attacking football, but it was Lavington who got the break as Hickton scored his second of the tie to make it 2-1.
With ten minutes left the inevitable hat-trick came from the prolific scorer Hickton to seal the victory.
