Chippenham Folk Festival, May 23-26

The festival has seen many changes since its beginnings in Lacock 37 years ago, but still retains its village atmosphere with three and a half days packed with song, dance, workshops and dance displays.

Over 200 events take place in the town: the main ceilidh and concert events take place in the beautiful park alongside the river, while practically every pub and venue in the town is used for a range of sessions, workshops and smaller concerts and dances.

There is also a full programme of children's events, a large craft marquee, catering facilities and an open-air arena in the park. Trowbridge Village Pump, Festival July 24-27

Now in its 35th year, the festival has grown enormously since the idea was conceived over a pint and the first festival was held in the back garden of the Lamb Inn. Don McLean will headline the folk and roots music festival at Stowford Manor Farm this year. Wychwood Music Festival, May 30-June 1

This critically-acclaimed boutique festival will once again be at Cheltenham racecourse, just over the Wiltshire border, featuring a diverse line-up of established musicians, comedians and new bands. Headliners include Duffy, The Proclaimers, The Divine Comedy and BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards winner Rachel Unthank. Larmer Tree Festival, July 16-20

Celebrating its 18th birthday this year, the Salisbury based festival has its usual eclectic mix of world music, including headliners Orchestra Baobab, The Levellers, Jools Holland, Seth Lakeman and many more.
