A man from Chippenham is set to face court after allegedly causing damage to a police cell.
Toby Charles Mitchell, who is 25, from Ladyfield Road in the town, allegedly damaged a cell in Melksham which belongs to Wiltshire Police.
A spokesperson for South East Wiltshire Magistrates’ court said he was "intending to destroy or damage such property or be reckless as to whether such property would be destroyed or damage".
Mr Mitchell has been remanded on unconditional bail but will face South East Wiltshire Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (12/08).
If found guilty, he would be in breach of sections 1(1) and 4 of the Criminal Damage Act 1971.
According to legislation; if the damage caused is less than £5,000, the case to required to be tried in the magistrates’ court where the maximum sentence available is 3 months in prison and, or a fine of up to £2,500.
