BIDDESTONE Cricket Club's Nathan Caddell has been selected for the England Deaf cricket team.
Caddell, from Chippenham, regularly plays for the WEPL Wiltshire outfit and has done for 10 years since joining the club as a 13-year-old.
Biddestone's talented all-rounder has been involved in the England Deaf squad for the past three years, and has now been handed the ultimate honor for any English cricketer.
The 23-year-old headed out to Australia with the squad to play five T20s and three ODI matches against Australia in Brisbane between June 1-15.
It has been 11 years since the England Deaf team toured Australia, when they were winners of an IT20 tri-series against Australia and South Africa.
Reacting to the news, a spokesperson for Biddestone Cricket Club said: "We feel it is so fantastic that one of our players has been selected for the highest of honours to represent his country.
"We wish Nathan every success and hope that he has a great time in Australia. The club will keep everyone updated on the outcome of The Ashes matches."
Meanwhile, England Deaf captain, George Greenway, said: “A tour of Australia is the pinnacle for any international cricketer. We go there confident that we can play our very best cricket.”
