A TIME-LAPSE video has been released showing the progress being made on the £10.9m health centre coming to Devizes.

A 90-second clip shows construction teams working through the rain and shine of the last two months.

Cameras at the Marshall Road construction site have also been recording every moment of the multimillion-pound build since work started back in May 2021.

The doors to the new centre, which will be the flagship location for health and care in Devizes, are due to open later this year, with the building set to bring an extensive range of services from a number of different health and care providers together under one roof.

Dr Richard Sanford-Hill, GP at Market Lavington Surgery, said: “I was fortunate enough to visit the build during the early days of construction, and it’s absolutely fantastic to see how far the site team have come over the last 12 months.

“I know many in Devizes, as well as the surrounding areas, have waited patiently over many years for this new health centre, and I’m really pleased people now have the opportunity to see the building coming together at speed.

“It’s great that the latest digital media is being used to keep the local community updated, as not only will the centre be a truly 21st-century health venue, it will also be powered by cutting-edge green technology, such as solar panels and heat pumps.”

As well as replacing the services at the existing Devizes Community Hospital, the centre will house a new on-the-day primary care team, and also become the home for a range of community-based services, such as phlebotomy, physiotherapy, audiology, podiatry, diabetes and mental health.

People will be able to access the services on offer at the new health centre with either a GP or hospital referral.

Devizes Health Centre will not replace any local GP practices, all of which will continue to operate as normal once the site opens later in the year, but the services currently provided by Wiltshire Health and Care at the Devizes Community Hospital will be moving to the health centre.

This is alongside a range of outpatient services provided by the Royal United Hospitals Bath and some of Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust’s community mental health services.
