The new year did not get off to a good start for these defendants who now face considerable time behind bars for their crimes.

From stalking to drug dealing and a number of people being returned to jail for their crimes while out on licence, Wiltshire's courts have been busy in January.

Here are a few of the important cases covered in the last month.

Rachal Barnes- Stalking

A JEALOUS woman who waged a “surveillance operation” against her police officer ex-boyfriend and his new lover has been jailed for 18 months.

Rachel Barnes was rebuffed by the officer after their casual relationship ended in December 2020, and proceeded to stalk him, his new girlfriend and her housemate over a period of at least three months.

The former Gogglebox researcher set up fake social media accounts falsely reported the couple for Covid rule breaches and even posed as a delivery driver.

Ezekiel Bailey- Drug dealing

A COUNTY lines drug dealer found with thousands of pounds in cash has been jailed.

Ezekiel Bailey was arrested at a vulnerable drug users’ address in Swindon in March 2020, with officers seizing multiple wraps of crack cocaine, a Class A drug, more than £1,200 in cash and a mobile phone linked to a drugs line.

Officers were carrying out enquiries into the ‘Troy’ drugs line when they took him into custody.

Billy Livingstone- aggravated vehicle taking, driving whilst disqualified, affray and possession with the intent to supply heroin

A DRUG dealer narrowly avoided hitting other cars as he led police on a chase through Swindon town centre, which included driving the wrong way down a one-way road and mounting a pavement to avoid being arrested.

Disqualified driver Billy Livingstone was jailed for three years and nine months after the chase through town on June 23, 2021. It followed a road rage incident which saw him stop in the middle of the road to confront another motorist.

Josh Kellock-grievous bodily harm

A DAD has been jailed after he hit a pub-goer over the head with a glass - an attack which later forced his victim to have his eye removed.

Josh Kellock was involved in the row at the Royal George pub in Purton on a summer's evening in August 2020, which saw bystanders forced to intervene.

Pawel Suszczynski- arranging or facilitating commission of a child sex offence and distributing indecent photographs of children

A MAN travelled almost 150 miles to Chippenham with the intention of sexually abusing a young girl.

Pawel Suszczynski thought he was messaging the mother of a young girl in August and September last year, and outlined in “graphic and disturbing detail” what his intentions were to the mother.

He then drove 145 miles from his home in Essex to Chippenham, where he thought he was meeting the girl and her mother, but was actually confronted by police officers who arrested him.

17-year-old boy- recalled to prison

A BOY arrested after a stabbing in broad daylight in Swindon town centre last week has been recalled to prison.

The 17-year-old boy had been arrested on suspicion of affray and suspicion of possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply.

Now, Wiltshire Police have confirmed that the boy arrested was interviewed and subsequently recalled to prison. A spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday that enquiries remain ongoing.

Shane Simmonds- recalled to prison

A DAD-TO-BE was caught drink driving after celebrating the news he was expecting his first child, causing him to be recalled to prison.

Shane Simmonds had been celebrating “with a few drinks” with his armed forces partner, who is serving in Salisbury, in December last year when he realised he had to return home in Dudley because of his prison licence conditions for an aggravated burglary offence.

He was spotted by officers swerving across the central white line on the A345 approaching Marlborough in his black Peugeot 206, and then made off when police tried to stop him.

Father jailed – Child cruelty offences

Wiltshire Times:

A FATHER subjected his eight-year-old son to several months of cruelty, including dunking his head in the toilet and flushing it, and tying him up with electrical tape at night.

The man, from Trowbridge, also made him sleep on a mattress on the floor, tied the door handle of the bathroom at night so he could not use it, and on one occasion slapped him so hard he fell against the wall.
