A community fundraiser from Julia’s House Children’s Hospice was recently welcomed to the Warminster Lions Club for their February meeting to receive a cheque for £2,000.

This was the proceeds of the Santa’s Workshop outings in the weeks before Christmas. The generous amount was attained by donations from the public who appreciated Santa stopping nearby, and a 'top-up' amount from club funds.

The Lions Club had decided to support Julia’s House in recognition of the valuable support given to Warminster families whenever it is needed – at home, in the hospice, or in the community.

In a short presentation, Claudia explained that the donation could pay for crucial respite care at home for eight families to give them a three hour break, knowing their child is in safe hands.

She added that Julia’s House is there for the whole journey, supporting families from the birth of their child and diagnosis through to when a teenager moves into adult care.

And they are there when the worst happens, helping families access the very best end-of-life care, either in hospital, in their hospices or at home among familiar surroundings, and that the support would continue for the family for up to three years.
