COVID cases in Wiltshire have dropped by nearly 40 per cent since last week, figures reveal.

In the last seven days 4,178 people have tested positive for Covid-19 as of 4pm on Monday, January 17.

This means that the case rate in Wiltshire stands at 828.9 per 100,000 people in.

The week prior the same figure was 6,799 (1,348.8) – a decline in cases of over 38 per cent.

This figure remains below the England average of 1,128.9.

Since last week, 638,372 people in England have tested positive for the virus. Across the whole of the United Kingdom this same figure is 726,309.

In Wiltshire 953 people have died with Covid-19 on their death certificate. While 766 people have died within 28 days of testing positive.

Since the start of the vaccine roll out, 419,163 (89.6 per cent) people have received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.

Of those, 392,202 (83.8 per cent) of people have taken up a second dose.

And to date, 324,423 (69.4 per cent) people have received either their third dose or a booster vaccine.
