A FAMILY from London who moved into Holt last year are trying to spread a little cheer and raise funds for the village pre-school with their Christmas lights display.
The Parsons family turned on the display at their home in The Common on November 28 to coincide with the start of the Holt Advent Trail.
Mum Sharon, 33, said: “We’re just trying to bring a smile to people’s faces and spread a little Christmas cheer.
“We’ve put a bench under an arch in the garden, with candy canes and a bowl for donations to help the pre-school appeal.
“We just thought it would be a nice thing to do.
“If people want to stop by and make a voluntary donation, that would be very welcome.
“Anything is better than nothing and it would be nice to raise £50 to £100.”
The family moved into Holt last year but it was too late to install their Christmas lights display, which has been put together over several years.
They comprise mum Sharon, husband Mark, 41, and their three children, Kacey, 16, Jamie, 14, and Bobby, four, who attended the pre-school.
Mrs Parsons says the family have spent “hundreds of pounds” on the displays, which include reindeer, fake snow, a light up Christmas tree, a snowfall projector and Christmas arch.
“This is our first year in the village and we just wanted to do something to make it look really lovely.
“We just love doing it and to make people smile and spread a little cheer.
“People are coming every night to look at it,” she added.
