WILTSHIRE’S Laurie Canter capped off his European Tour campaign with a top-30 finish at the season-ending DP World Tour championship in Dubai.
Having posted three under-par scores throughout the tournament, the Cumberwell Park member finished on his own in 27th.
The 32-year-old collected 111.6 more Race to Dubai points as well as a little over 50,000 euros for his week’s work.
The final event ever on the European Tour, before it transforms into the new DP World Tour, saw Collin Morikawa win the title - holding off Rory McIlroy to lift both the DP World Tour Championship and the ultimate Race to Dubai prize.
While it was not to be for Wiltshire’s Canter, the Cumberwell Park man can look back on a fantastic year of golf from a personal point of view.
The 32-year-old claimed five top-10 finishes from 22 starts, and although the wait for his maiden professional title goes on, Canter will be encouraged by events such as the Dubai Desert Classic, the BMW PGA Championship, and the Andalucia Masters. Recording top-five finishes in all three, Canter put himself into positions to win but was unable to complete the job.
Canter’s 2022 term begins at the Alfred Dunhill Championship on December 8.
